Residents have commended Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke as he begins lighting up the state, starting from Osogbo, the State capital.
The residents especially around Ogo-Oluwa area in Osogbo who spoke with *Osunnewsroom* newspaper were full of praises for the Governor, saying no wonder he is called 'Imole' light.
They observed that the hitherto dark nature of Osogbo, the State capital at night, is now a thing of the past as motorists and other commuters can now navigate the roads easily.
The respondents added that the lighting up of the roads has also helped in reducing the cases of criminality at night on the roads as criminals no longer have any hideout to carry out their nefarious activities.
Commenting on the development, the Permanet Secretary, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Bashir Bello said the State is witnessing what the Governor promised the people during his campaign.
He said that the Governor upon assumption of office told him to make arrangements to ensure that the dark nature of towns in the state especially at night is eliminated.
In his words, “We are witnessing why the governor is being called, ‘Imole’, which means light.
"Osogbo used to be very dark at night, today, it’s another story entirely as the state is witnessing light, the installation of solar street lights is being done everywhere.
"You will agree with me that darkness aids insecurity, armed robbery and accidents, the Governor wants to put a stop to it". He stated.
It will be recalled that Governor Adeleke during his campaign lamented that the roads in the state were always in darkness due to lack of street lights, which resulted in accidents and insecurity.
The present administration had begun fixing street lights at Ola-Iya, Aregbe through to Ogo-Oluwa, GoF junction, Africa, Abere, Owode-Ede to Akoda and other places across the state
